I Made an AI Music Video to Expose Fast Fashion — and You Can Too
Step-by-step guide. 30 minutes. Zero budget. Zero experience required.
I made an AI-generated video called “Consumer Girl” to draw attention to the dark side of the fashion industry.
Did you know that the $2.5 trillion fashion industry is the 5th most polluting industry on Earth? Yet its environmental damage is hidden behind a veil of glamour and those perfectly curated Instagram ads.
The power of contrast
The core strength of this video is the jarring contrast between hyper-glamorous consumerism and environmental destruction. It’s paired with an upbeat, catchy hyperpop/electro-pop track that sounds like it could be in a commercial for a fast-fashion brand.
But the lyrics? They’re deeply critical. “Can’t stop shopping, shopping, shopping / Even though the world keeps dropping.”
Everything you see in this video is 100% AI-generated. I’m just the director — the orchestrator of multiple AIs working together. The images, data tags, animation, lyrics, music, concept, prompt refinements — AI through and through.
Why this matters to me
Consumerism and fast fashion have always bothered me. Over the years, I’ve consumed enough documentaries, news articles, stories, and followed the work of Fashion Revolution — a nonprofit exposing the true cost of fashion. I’ve tried to reduce my impact by embracing minimalism, buying only when needed, and buying products whose stories I know.
But I couldn’t stand the consumerism around me. Every new app, every algorithm refinement, every “limited time offer,” “buy now, pay later” — all designed to make it easier and easier to consume mindlessly.

And then AI happened.
Finally, I can express my concerns about consumerism and other topics that disturb me. I can create media that gets attention. I don’t have to restrict myself to words anymore. With AI tools, I can create shocking imagery and videos to wake people up.
That’s exactly what I intend to do. As one person working with a team of multiple AIs, I can move fast and unleash media almost every day.
The creative process: 30 minutes from idea to production
The whole process from idea to production took me not more than 30 minutes, and it all started with a book I put into Grok to refresh my memory. (It’s a really great read — highly recommend it.)

Then I got reminded of Madonna’s “Material Girl” video and wanted to create something as glamorous and upscale as that.
I was also inspired by the opening scene of War Dogs, where they show the true cost of war by putting data labels next to every piece of military gear. This was my attempt to do something similar for fashion.

Here’s how it went down — step by step
Step 1. I asked Claude to help me conceptualize the images and write the lyrics. I wanted something short, repetitive, sticky lines that burrow into your brain and don’t let go.
Step 2. I used AI music creator Suno to create the song. My idea was to make something catchy with repeatable lines that stay in your head. Think hyperpop meets 80s synth-pop — the kind of sound that makes you want to dance even as it’s calling you out.
Step 3. I used Midjourney to create the images. Nothing can beat Midjourney when it comes to stunning imagery. I needed that glossy, high-fashion aesthetic.
Step 4. I used Nano Banana (Gemini’s photo editing model) to add the data label overlays, War Dogs style. Those brutal facts pointing to each glamorous item.
Step 5. I used Grok Imagine and Midjourney to animate the images. Just subtle movements — enough to bring them to life without overcomplicating things.
Step 6. I used CapCut to stitch it all together — music, images, animations, overlays.
The music video is about 1 minute long and it comes together beautifully.
This is the first time I’ve ever created a music video — with zero background in photography, music, or filmmaking. All I had was an idea and conviction. Everything else? AI handled it. The cost to production? Literally zero.
This is just the beginning
Here’s what I want you to understand: AI has democratized media creation in a way that’s never existed before.
You don’t need a film crew. You don’t need a recording studio. You don’t need Hollywood’s permission or a six-figure budget.
If something bothers you — climate change, labor exploitation, corporate greed, political corruption — you can create something about it today. Right now. In the next 30 minutes.
This isn’t just about making pretty pictures or fun videos. This is about using AI as a tool for social change. To shock. To wake people up. To create media that cuts through the noise and makes people actually think.
I’m one person with a laptop and access to AI tools. And I’m going to keep making videos about the things that disturb me — fast, relentlessly, until people pay attention.
If this video moves you, if you’re disturbed by mindless consumerism — share this video. Share this post.
Let’s use AI to wake the world up.
”Consumer Girl” lyrics
Living in a consumer world / I’m a consumer girl Can’t stop shopping, shopping, shopping Even though the world keeps dropping Know the cost but I can’t stop / Buy until the planet drops
(Bridge — 8 bars spoken/whispered) Click, ship, trash, repeat / Click, ship, trash, repeat One-day shipping at my door / Always need a little more
(Back to main loop — repeat infinitely) Living in a consumer world / I’m a consumer girl Can’t stop shopping, shopping, shopping / Even though the world keeps dropping…
